Why should I upgrade to Java 7?

Java 6 Update 45 is the last public update of Java 6
Oracle recommends that users migrate to Java 7 in order to continue receiving public updates and security enhancements. All Java 6 releases up to and including 6u45 will be moved to the Java Archive, where they will remain available but not receive updates. ยป More info

Java 7 is the latest release for Java that contains many new features, enhancements and bug fixes to improve efficiency to develop and run Java programs.

Features of Java 7
Here is a brief summary of the enhancements included with the Java 7 release:

The Update tab as is not included in the Java Control Panel for 64-bit Java. To update, get the latest version of 64-bit Java.
