When a new Java update is available, a tooltip balloon appears on your Windows desktop. To install the new update, click the notification dialog.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 - UAC promptDepending on your Windows settings, you may be presented with the Windows User Account Control (UAC) consent prompt to allow Java Auto Updater, or jucheck.exe, to perform the update check.The consent prompt appears when the system attempts to perform a task that requires administrative access. Click Yes to allow the jucheck process to check whether a newer version is available for your system.
Remove Java if not neededThe Java download is freely available. If you do not currently use Java, you can uninstall it and you will no longer be prompted for updates. The next time you encounter Java content on the web, you will be instructed to install it so you can view that content |
