What is the icon that appears next to some Java windows?

This article applies to:
  • Platform(s): Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003
  • Java version(s): 6.0

A warning feature has been added to Java's applet behavior. When an unsigned applet opens a new window, outside of the browser, a icon appears around the applet. This icon is a triangular warning sign appearing on the top right corner of the applet.

A triangular icon is displayed in black and white until clicked. When clicked, the icon is tinted yellow before it reverts to black and white. When the icon is hovered over with the cursor, the tooltip appears.
